Enamel on Cast Objects

This workshop will guide you through the process of incorporating enamel into your cast sterling silver elements. Beginning with the wax, basic wax working and carving will be covered, allowing for each participant to create their own piece(s) on which they may enamel. Once the piece is cast, we will begin the process of enamel application and firing.

Finishing will be covered after the final enamel layer is applied and fired. Demonstrations on various cast pieces of a range of forms will offer a variety of examples and how to problem-solve.

Participants will also be expected to be enameling on their own pieces and working through the process while in the workshop. The goal is for participants to leave feeling confidant in their enameling on cast forms and to be able to incorporate this into their own work for one-of-a-kind pieces to production style work. A basic knowledge of wax working will be necessary for this course.
